In short

  • No cookies for tracking or advertising. Visits are counted anonymously, without cookies.
  • Fonts and images are served from this website, not from third parties.
  • What you send through a form is only used to answer your request.
  • Vimeo only receives data once you start one of the longer films.

Hosting and server logs

This website runs on the network of Cloudflare, Inc. (San Francisco, USA). To deliver the pages and protect them against attacks and misuse, Cloudflare processes technical data with every visit: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, browser and operating system. This data is not used to identify you, and technical logs are deleted after a few days. Pages are only delivered over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).

Legal basis under the GDPR: our legitimate interest in a secure and working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Visitor statistics

To see how the website is used, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It records which pages are viewed, how fast they load, which website a visitor came from, the country, and the type of device and browser. It works without cookies and without identifying or following individual visitors. We only see summarised figures.

Legal basis under the GDPR: our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cookies and browser storage

This website does not use cookies for tracking, analytics or advertising, which is why there is no cookie banner. It only keeps small technical entries in your browser:

  • a session entry, so the opening animation only plays once per visit,
  • your print list (local storage), which stays in your browser until you send a request or clear it.

Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell people and automated traffic apart.

Contact and print requests

When you send the contact or print form, we receive your name, email address, phone number (optional), your message and, for print requests, the prints on your list. The form is processed by Cloudflare and delivered to our mailbox by email. The same applies when you write to hello@nicolasburristudio.com.

We use this data only to answer your request and, if it leads to a project, to prepare and carry it out. We delete it once it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention periods apply (for example for business correspondence).

A hidden field in the forms keeps spam bots out. No third-party service is used for this.

Legal basis under the GDPR: steps prior to entering into a contract and our legitimate interest in answering requests (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

Films on Vimeo

The longer films are hosted on Vimeo (Vimeo.com, Inc., New York, USA). The preview image comes from this website. The Vimeo player only loads when you select "Play film". From that moment, Vimeo receives your IP address and technical data about your device. The player runs with Vimeo's "do not track" setting, which switches off tracking of your viewing session. More in the Vimeo privacy policy.

Legal basis under the GDPR: your consent by starting the film (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Links to social networks

Instagram and LinkedIn are linked as plain links. No data is sent to these networks unless you follow a link.

Transfers abroad

Cloudflare and Vimeo may process data in the USA and other countries. Where a country does not offer adequate data protection, the transfer relies on the provider's certification under the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or on standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You can ask which personal data we hold about you and have it corrected, deleted or restricted. You can object to its processing, ask for a copy in a common format, and withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. Write to hello@nicolasburristudio.com.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority: in Switzerland with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU with the authority in your country of residence.

Changes

We update this policy when the website or the law changes. The version published here applies.
